Solihull Scout County - Night Hike 2010

Application and Sponsor Forms Here

On Saturday 6th March 2010 a competitive night hike is planned for all Scout & Explorer sections within Solihull.

Once again the hike will be based from the riding arena at Solihull Riding Club near Bentley Heath & there will be two routes – a Scout route (approx 9 miles) & Explorer route (approx 13 miles).

The Scout team completing the hike in the fastest time is awarded the coveted “Boot “trophy whilst the Explorers compete for the “Walking Stick”. The hike is open to all Scouts& Explorers in teams of 4 – 10 members.

Scout teams will be accompanied by an adult (from another section) whilst Explorer teams are more than capable of getting lost all by themselves!
Teams will pass through checkpoints to ensure their safety (one will serve hot refreshments) & after completing the hike everyone sleeps in the arena. Finally, breakfast will be provided for all in the morning!

For 18 years this popular event has been well supported & last year there were a record number of teams entering. To enter your troop/unit please return the entry form below with the appropriate hike fees – *PLEASE NOTE*CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES – SUNDAY 21st FEBRUARY.
The cost will be £5 per Scout/Explorer to cover the cost of arena hire, laminated maps, hot refreshments, breakfast & a sew-on badge for everyone. (No charge for leaders).

JAMBOREE SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY – Please ask the members of your sections if they would consider being sponsored for this years night hike to help raise funds for the 2011 Solihull Jamboree Unit – last year there were approx 300 walkers – if each were sponsored & raised just £5 that's £1500 raised! – Night Hike sponsor form attached.

Many thanks.
